This past weekend I went to Charleston for my Bachelorette trip! On the drive back home me and some friends started listening to a podcast and it got me thinking of some of my favorite ones that I’ve listened to. I love podcasts that have to do with pop culture/celebrity news and history, but I really enjoy podcasts about unsolved crimes and mysteries.
My mom has always said that her dream job would’ve been to be a profiler for the FBI, so she loved all of the shows about unsolved crimes and documentaries on famous cases. And growing up I watched all of those kinds of shows with her. She also had a love for pop culture and anything slightly scary – so I guess you could say that a lot of what I’m interested in came from her.
I’ve listed some of my favorite podcasts below and what they’re about!
This podcast is all about celebrity gossip and pop culture – and it’s highly entertaining! Even if you don’t normally keep up with celebrity culture, I promise you will love it. I honestly wish I were friends with the two ladies who host the show and they are hilarious! Whenever I listen to it it feels like hanging out with your friends. It’s definitely one I look forward to listening to every week!
Up and Vanished
This was the first true crime podcast that I had ever consistently listened to. I discovered this podcast when I was on a vacation at the beach and I finished it that same week. I’ve never listened to Serial (I know I need to lol) but if you love that or the Netflix series: Making a Murderer you will definitely love this one. The case that they cover is fascinating because it’s been a cold case for over a decade. But the most fascinating part about it is that this podcast lead to the arrest of two people in the murder. It is a must listen to in my book!
The same guy (Payne Lindsay) who created Up and Vanished also created this podcast. It’s another true crime podcast about the Atlanta Child Murders in the 1970’s. This podcast is still being produced so I’m not able to finish it just yet – but so far it’s great! Payne is reexamining the disappearance and murder of over 25 African American children and young adults and is trying to provide some answers to many unanswered questions.
Parcast Network – Cults & Conspiracy Theories
The first podcast I listened to from this network was Cults – and this was right up my alley. It’s always fascinated me to learn about different cults and why the people in them believed and did certain things. In the middle of one episode I heard a promo of the network’s other podcast, Conspiracy Theories. I’m also hooked on that one! Parcast Network has even more podcasts that I know I will be listening to eventually. So if you’re into those topics I highly suggest you check them out!
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard
I actually just discovered this podcast today and I’m already interested. First and foremost I love Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard – so I’m always interested in anything either of them do. And if you’re not into celebrity news like me – Dax Shepard is the husband of Kristen Bell. He’s an actor who is probably most famous for being on the tv show “Parenthood.” In each episode he interviews a different celebrity and asks them questions about their life. The most recent episode he interviewed Ellen Degeneres and I learned so much about both of their lives!
I highly recommend any one of these podcasts (if not all of them lol) and I promise you will love it!
